In our quest to expand the pizza universe to satisfy every type of eater, we have proudly been serving vegan options for two decades. First came “The Earth Mother” in the early ‘90s, honoring Bette Midler and her role in saving the East Village community gardens. Then in 2011, we introduced the “V for Vegan,” featuring Daiya, a tapioca-based cheese substitute, which has garnered enormous attention from vegans and non-vegans alike!
This November, we would like to celebrate our vegan brothers and sisters by returning with a very special vegan pie, just for World Vegan Month: “The Super Vegan!” This pizzextravaganza builds on the original “V for Vegan” recipe, adding broccoli and vegan ricotta to the already delicious combination of artichokes, Shitake mushrooms, and red onions, with Daiya’s vegan cheese and a revolutionary criss-cross of our homemade pestos (made from sweet red peppers and basil). For the month of November, this pie will replace our regular V for Vegan in the pizza cases of participating stores.
In addition to serving up the Super Vegan, we will be making vegan versions of four of our awesome Pantheon pies: Vegan Larry Tate, Vegan Mel Cooley, Vegan Night Tripper, and Vegan Tony Clifton!!! All these pies are made with their normal veggie toppings, but substituted with Daiya non-dairy cheese and our homemade vegan ricotta. One of these pies will be available daily in our pizza case for the entire month of November at participating stores!
