of the notorious Jacobean Tragedy

THE CHANGELING is an adaptation of the 1622 play by Thomas Middleton and William Rowley - a harrowing story of desire, deceit and murder.

Beatrice-Johanna is a young woman engaged to Alonzo, a man she does not love. When she meets Alsemero, Beatrice is frantic to break her engagement. Enter De Flores, her father's servant, a man she detests, and who loves Beatrice desperately enough to do anything to win her good graces. In the intrigue that follows, Beatrice and De Flores fulfill their deepest desires in a love story that runs with blood.

Select screenings of the film will be followed by readings of death scenes in other notorious Jacobean dramas, and by a presentation from filmmaker Jay Stern.
