Story

As a former resident, and a long-time lover of all things Baltimore (from John Waters to Faidley’s crabcakes to the Oriole Way), owner Phil Hartman long-harbored a dream to bring Two Boots to the culinary capital of the Chesapeake. Located at the nexus of the U. of Baltimore and the Maryland Institute College of Art, this branch includes an installation from the American Visionary Art Museum, a spectacular array of local folk art (including another museum-worthy mosaic by JC Pinto), and the formidable Old Bay Beast, which brings crab and Old Bay seasoning to a spectacular mutation of our old favorite, The Bayou Beast. **Voted Baltimore’s Best Pizza 2010, Baltimore City Paper, and Baltimore’s Favorite Kids’ Restaurant**

Maryland Film Festival

The MFF, an annual five-day event in May (virtually on the doorstep of Two Boots Baltimore), presents top-notch film and video work from all over the world. Building on Baltimore’s great cinematic foundation (from John Waters to Barry Levinson to Matt Porterfield), the MFF is a galvanizing event for the mid-Atlantic film community. The festival is also active all year-round, and Two Boots is proud to sponsor Gunky’s Basement, a monthly screening series curated by Dan Deacon and Jimmy Joe Roche, which features cult classics and occasionally an appropriately-themed pizza.

American Visionary Art Museum (AVAM)

One of the world’s great treasures, this Baltimore cultural institution redefines the phrase “shock and awe.” Featuring “art produced by self-taught individuals, usually without formal training, whose works arise from an innate personal vision that revels foremost in the creative act itself.” Two Boots provides pizza for the Flicks on the Hill program at AVAM, and features a standing installation of its art at our Baltimore location. Beyond that, every branch of Two Boots is filled with outsider art, testifying to the endless admiration we feel for the mission and vision of AVAM founder, Rebecca Hofberger. Plus they’ve got the best gift shop on the planet (Ted’s Sideshow!).

Baltimore Symphony Orchestra

Located at The Meyerhoff, a few blocks from Two Boots Baltimore, the BSO made musical history in September 2007, when Maestra Marin Alsop led her inaugural concerts as the Orchestra’s 12th music director, making her the first woman to head a major American orchestra, and ushering in a new era for the BSO and its audiences. Their College Nights Program exposes new audiences to the classic repertory and is augmented by free Two Boots pizza.
